For the last 6 months, we have been dazzled by your submissions in our twice annual photo competition. World Expeditions and Lonely Planet Photographer & judge Richard I’Anson are pleased to announce that Alan Levy of Kambah in Australia is this round’s winner! Alan recently travelled south and captured the image at right of an Elephant Seal and Gentoo penguin cordially sharing some common ground at Gold Harbour, South Georgia, Antarctica.
Richard I’Anson made this comment about the winning photo: “Great content, composition and light are the essential components of a great image and this picture ticks all the boxes with the added bonus of a surprising, humorous and slightly startling juxtaposition. It causes a double take from the viewer and inspires a sense of wonder. You can't ask much more from a travel photograph”
